Did you see the video? That man ran so fast along with the Bufallo. People were simply amazed. The video went viral all over the internet. The world famous personality Usain Bolt is the Olympic record holder for being the fastest man. Now people have started comparing these two. Why have they started comparing? Let me tell you. Kambala is an ancient, traditional Buffalo race in muddy or slushy tracks. It is held in Karnataka’s Mangalore and few other villages. The youth in various village enthusiastically participate in Kambala competitions and train for it. 28-year-old Srinivasa Gowda along with his buffalo covered 142.50 meters in just 13.62 seconds. In the last 30 years, nobody has ran so fast in any Kambala event. Gowda has created a record by running so fast in his Kambala competition. Usain Bolt covered 100 meters in just 9.58 seconds. People began to compare Gowda and Bolt. Since their timings were different and Gowda ran 142.50 meters in 13.62 seconds, people simply calculated that his speed for 100 metres, would have been just 9.55 seconds. Whereas Bolt covered 100 meters in just 9.58 seconds. Gowda has beaten Bolt by 3 seconds. People have different perspectives about Gowda beating Bolt’s record. Gowda could not beat Bolt as he was running alongside a pair of buffaloes and the speed generated by the animal helped him win. Another view is that he ran in a slushy field, which is a speed deterrent. While Bolt ran easily on an even running track. Everyone has different perspectives. Gowda told media persons that he is very happy of his success. The credit of my success should also go to my two buffalos who ran well and helped him win. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, posted on Twitter and said Gowda is very talented. He must be included in Olympic tournaments. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports is Kiren Rijiju. Rijiju replied by saying, he agrees and Gowda will be provided trainning to better his running abilities. He will be given full support to participate in Olympic tournaments. In Kambala, animals are whipped and tortured to run faster. This causes them a lot of pain. This is why people demanded a ban on it. Hence it was banned for a few years. Earlier Buffaloes would be mercilessly whipped to make them run faster. This is why Kambala was banned. Congress government in Karnataka led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah passed a special legislation allowing it. In some Kambala events, the prize money crosses several lakhs.
